Every year, in the Artvin Kafkasor plateau, this bull fights are held. We don't know when this fights were first held but there are some findings that they emerged in Barhal. The fights in Kalatvan and Didvake are very though. The bull owners send their well trained bulls to the arena. He expects his bull to fight over his opponents to win.
So that he will be crowned for owning a "pehlivan" bull. These fights are now an ambition for the locals. The bulls are trained with intensive care to keep their form. Now it turned to a profession to feed a champion bull. With this story ongoing for many years the passion is now widespread.
Despite the misbelief, the bull fights is not done for fun and to hurt the animal. The main motive for the fights were to let the bulls fight in a controlled place, which will stop them from hurting each other in the plateus. These organizations called "meeting" will be done so that the bulls will not fight each other anymore. During the fights the referees control the fighters and prevent them hurt each other making fatal or heavy damage. To conclude the figths are not held to harm but to protect the bulls. The fights have evolved into regional activities in time.
